Snot purgatory: noun.

1. Mucous caught in the black hole of the sinuses, such that you can’t blow it out and you can’t suck it down.  In snot purgatory, mucus is thick and often rattles during inhalation or chokes you while you’re talking.

“Samantha’s date walked out on dinner because of  her unmannerly noises; she was in snot purgatory.”
